We Write About Places That Matter
BestAttractions is a website about memory, place, and what sticks with us. Some spots are must-sees, and others are forgotten ruins.
Some are still around but fading. All of them tell you something about the people who built them, visited them, or still do.
We cover things to do, places to visit, and spaces—big or small—that leave a mark.
We care about the facts but also the feelings: nostalgia, loss, pride, and curiosity.
Whether it’s an abandoned amusement park or a small-town museum that still gets visitors on Saturdays, we treat it with respect and context.
Why We Exist
We built Best Attractions because most “travel content” is shallow. It’s full of recycled lists, vague blurbs, and photos with no real story behind them.
We’re not doing that. We write to document what these places are (or were), why they matter, and what they meant to the people who experienced them.
We’re not here to sell you tickets. We’re here to tell you the truth—about attractions still open, long gone, or barely hanging on.
What You’ll Find
- Clear, well-sourced stories about historic places, roadside attractions, theme parks, shopping malls, local landmarks, and weird stops across the U.S.
- Honest guides to places to visit and things to do—no fluff, no marketing language.
- Content that focuses on both the history of a place and the emotional pull it still holds.
- Updates when locations change, close, or come back from the dead.
What We Believe
- Accuracy comes first.
- Nostalgia matters. Emotions tied to a place deserve attention, even if the place is gone.
- Local stories have value. You don’t need a million visitors to matter.
- Plain writing is better than clever writing.
- We don’t pretend to be neutral about places with personal weight—we respect them.
Who’s Behind This
We’re a small group of writers, researchers, and travelers. We are all interested in how places shape people and how people shape places in return.
No corporate team. No generic voice. If an article reads like a real person wrote it, that’s because they did.
We Welcome Long, Thoughtful Comments
If you have something to say—really say—we want to hear it. Whether you agree with what we wrote or think we completely missed the point, we’re open to detailed, personal responses.
If your comment tells a story, shares a memory, or adds context, we’ll gladly publish it.
We don’t care if it’s long. In fact, we prefer that.
That said, we do moderate all comments. We don’t allow spam, self-promotion, or posts that are just aggressive noise.
You can disagree all you want, but don’t waste people’s time. Comments that contain only insults or vague outrage will not make it through.
If you’ve got an actual memory or experience to add, you’re welcome here.
