Miami is an exciting city that has so much to offer families. In addition to being one of the most beautiful cities in the world, it’s also filled with fun attractions and activities that will keep you and your kids entertained. I’ve compiled a list of my favorite places to visit in Miami with kids.
Miami Seaquarium
If you’re looking to make a splash with the kids, the Miami Seaquarium is one of the most popular tourist destinations on Miami’s oceanfront. It’s not just a place to see dolphins and killer whales up close—it’s also an interactive aquarium that offers visitors the chance to see sharks or swim with turtles. You’ll get a great view of both the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay here, where you can watch the ocean-going mammals play in their pools and listen to the roaring of orcas while they jump out of the water. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of one of the resident dolphins riding a wave!
Miami Children’s Museum and Jungle Island
The museum focuses on play and learning through interactive exhibits encouraging children to explore their world and the world around them. With over 100 exhibits, there’s something for every age group. The museum also features a 4D theater where you can see movies like Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted in 3D IMAX! To top it off, Jungle Island just opened next door—a tropical wildlife park with over 70 species of animals worldwide. Their newest addition is a giant slide that leads into an observation tank.
Miami Beach Botanical Garden
The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is one of the most popular places to visit in Miami with kids. The garden features a wide variety of plants from all over the world, including South America and Asia. The Botanical Garden has been open to the public since 1926, making it one of the oldest gardens in Florida. It’s located in South Beach’s heart, making it easy to take a day trip from downtown Miami or Fort Lauderdale.
You can just relax here if you want—there are plenty of benches throughout, so you can take a break from walking around and enjoy some sunshine on your face while listening to birds chirping away. Or you could learn something too! Many people come here just because they want their children to see all these beautiful plants up close; others bring their cameras to take photos while they walk through this lush landscape together as a family unit (or even by themselves).
Bayfront Park
Bayfront Park, located in downtown Miami, is a popular park for locals. It features a large open lawn often used for public events and festivals. In addition to its expansive lawn and large trees, Bayfront Park also has an amphitheater that hosts live concerts throughout the summer months. The park is also home to numerous monuments, including a memorial dedicated to Cuban culture and life-sized statues of animals native to South Florida like manatees and crocodiles!
Bayfront Park can be accessed by the MetroRail train, which stops directly across from it on Biscayne Boulevard, or via Metromover from Government Center Station (or any other stop along Brickell Avenue).
Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science
The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is a popular tourist attraction in Miami. Opened in 2016, it’s the largest science center in Florida and one of the most famous museums for kids to visit.
The museum has over 800 interactive exhibits designed to entertain and educate visitors about everything science-related, from outer space to marine life. There are also special exhibits featuring dinosaurs and other extinct creatures, as well as a planetarium where you can see daily shows about our solar system or watch an immersive film on the surface of Mars.
If your family wants to experience something unique while they’re there, check out The Frost Odyssey: A Journey into Discovery! This multisensory exhibit features a series of immersive rooms with touchscreen computers so visitors can learn about different aspects of science through fun games and activities such as creating their virtual pets or replicating chemical reactions using everyday materials like soup cans!
There’s also The Exploreum: A Hands-On Science Center, where kids can discover how things work by building models out of recycled materials (for example, soda bottles) plus take part in programming explicitly designed for them, like hands-on experiments involving liquids like vinegar mixed with baking soda (that’s right—they’ll get messy!).
And don’t miss Up Close & Personal with Animals! Visitors will be able to interact directly with exotic animals like wallabies from Australia or even touch some friendly snakes if they dare! It’s worth checking out, especially considering how reasonable prices have been set here compared to other venues around town.
Indian Beach Park and Arch Creek Park
Indian Beach Park and Arch Creek Park are in Miami Beach, Florida. These parks are great for families looking to relax and enjoy the beach or those seeking a nice hike.
These parks are free to visit, as they’re part of Miami-Dade County’s Parks & Recreation department.
Indian Beach Park is a sandy beach with plenty of grassy areas, picnic tables, and bathrooms where you can spend the day relaxing with your family. It’s also the perfect location for watching sunsets!
Arch Creek Park offers more than just an easy place to relax on a sunny day; it also contains several hiking trails that lead through mangrove forests and other areas that make up this wild habitat along Biscayne Bay—the only freshwater lagoon in all of South Florida.
I hope you enjoy your visit to Miami with your kids!
I hope you enjoy your visit to Miami with your kids!
Miami is an excellent place for all ages, and I’m happy that you’re bringing your children along. This city has so much to offer—beautiful beaches, delicious food, unique attractions, and exciting culture. You’ll find everything from art museums to amusement parks here. And if you want something different from the usual tourist traps like Walt Disney World or Universal Studios Theme Park?
Try visiting Miami’s very own Wynwood Walls Project! This outdoor gallery contains murals created by local artists and can be found in the heart of Wynwood Arts District—a neighborhood filled with colorful buildings painted with brilliant hues reflecting Latin American culture. My favorite part about visiting Miami is experiencing it through someone else’s eyes (especially when they’re as cute as yours).
Conclusion
While some may be intimidated by the idea of visiting Miami, it’s a great place to take your kids. It is safe, clean, and full of things for them to do. The best way to explore all Miami offers is by taking advantage of its many public parks, attractions, and beaches. While plenty of places within city limits are suitable for families with children, we have picked out some popular locales that offer good options for everyone in search of fun activities during their vacation time!
Take your kids on a boat ride through Miami Beach Marina or Biscayne Bay, where they can enjoy gondola rides or participate in educational fishing activities led by experts who will teach them about sea life while teaching them how to catch their very own fish! If you want something more active than just swimming, consider parasailing over water before landing safely back on land and heading home after spending the day outdoors enjoying everything nature has to offer!
