Experience the Magic of Solano Town Center Mall in Fairfield, CA

Journey Back in Time

Let’s step into the nostalgia-laden lanes of Fairfield, California, where a place has etched itself into the hearts of locals for over four decades. Yes, we’re talking about the Solano Town Center Mall, or as some may remember it, the Solano Mall.

Opened on March 19, 1981, this landmark shopping center was built around a free-standing J.C. Penney, one of the original anchor stores.

Other main tenants soon followed, including Emporium-Capwell, Mervyn’s, Macy’s, and Sears, forever transforming shopping habits for Solano County residents.

The Shifting Sands of Retail

Over the years, the Solano Town Center has seen stores come and go, each leaving its mark and memories on the local community. The Emporium, a first tenant, metamorphosed into Macy’s Clearance Center until its closure in 1997, followed by a new Sears in 1998.

Mervyn’s, another beloved store, shut its doors in 2008, later replaced by Forever 21 on the upper level and Sports Authority on the lower level. However, this also faced closure in 2020 and 2016, respectively. Sears, a stalwart of the mall, closed its location in 2018.

Yet, with each closure came a new beginning. The former Mervyn’s space was taken by Dick’s Sporting Goods in 2017, while a portion of the Sears space welcomed a Dave & Buster’s restaurant in 2021.
