In recent years, the state park has struggled with overcrowding. For instance, Squantz Pond was closed to new cars last Saturday after reaching capacity five minutes before the opening.
Fortunately, the State Department of Energy and environmental protection (DEP) has taken steps to control overcrowding. One measure was the enlargement of the designated beach swimming area. Another was the installation of a patrol boat dock. While these measures are still being tested, they might help prevent overcrowding at the park.
Located in the Pootatuck State Forest, Squantz Pond State Park is an excellent place for hiking. There are several trails to choose from, including a 2.2-mile loop. These trails offer many elevation changes and streams.
Thrillz High Flying Adventure Park

Danbury Railway Museum
Danbury Railway Museum has a variety of exciting displays of antique railroad equipment and historic trains. It also hosts fun events throughout the year, including a pumpkin patch, Easter bunny, and a railway day.
The museum is inside the former New Haven passenger station, built in 1852. The station was restored to its 1903 condition as part of the museum’s restoration.
The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1986. Visitors can take a tour of the museum’s grounds. In addition, there is a model train layout inside the station.
The museum’s collection consists of 70 antique and historic railroad equipment. Most of the equipment represents the railroading of the Northeast. A particular emphasis is on the history of the New Haven Railroad.
Bear Mountain Reservation
The Bear Mountain Reservation in Danbury, Connecticut, is a 140-acre greenspace with a lake, hiking trails, and a rope swing. This is an excellent spot for a family picnic or a quick tour with the dog. Many other activities also include seeing the area’s flora and fauna.
