The unique thing about this mall was the farmer’s market on the lower level, the skating rink, and the arcade. There was also a movie theater. You could view the skaters from the first floor of the mall through a plexiglass-type floor. There was also a carousel located in the center of the mall right under the large circus-like tent structure that is the vocal point of the design. The floors were also carpeted with benches made of Naugahyde. I think they were orange and light blue: the colors of the ’70s. There was a police “station” located at the end of one of the lesser snowflake spokes. You could view them from the inside of the mall or the driveway that was a drop-off point at that entrance to that “spoke” doorway. CBS 21 also had its station housed in the basement behind the escalators. I appreciate your endeavor.
Thanks for sharing those beautiful memories! It’s a vivid description that brings the mall to life for those who weren’t lucky enough to experience it.
